A frontrunner in construction industry, Techni Bharathi Limited was      incorporated in 1982 by a team of enterprising technocrats who, inspired by the revolutionary ideas in the field, started pursuing the goal of becoming a world-class construction specialist. For Techni Bharathi, the first decade was a period of learning. When the team worked vigorously on projects of moderate size, finding new ways to build without compromising on quality, designing innovative building methods and charting out cost-effective construction formulas.

The year 1991 witnessed the company's first foray into the strategic construction arena when Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited assigned Techni Bharathi for the construction of Lakhya Dam for a cost of Rs.120 million. Since then Techni Bharathi is engaged in engineering construction contracts for national infrastructure development like highways, bridges, dams, hydro electric projects and so on.

During September 2007, the Company signed a strategic alliance agreement with a US based Infrastructure Development Company, M/s India Globalization Capital Inc. (IGC), Bethesda, Maryland, USA. IGC is a listed public company in AMEX. IGC is formed with a basic objective of promoting Indian Infrastructure companies in making strategic alliance by infusion of capital. IGC also holds the title of the first Indian Infrastructure Company to be listed in AMEX. In March 2008, the Company successfully concluded the agreement with IGC by issuing fresh shares to the extent of 77% in the company. Since induction of IGC into the Company, the Board of the company is being controlled by IGC. This is being done through the provision of affirmative vote of IGC since IGC is holding absolute majority in the Company. The day-to-day operation of the company has also been further strengthened by induction of senior Management Executives. IGC has also formed 3 new companies in India, namely, IGC India mining & Trading Pvt. Ltd., Chennai (Exporting Iron Ore to China), IGC Materials Pvt Ltd. Nagpur (Rock Aggregates, Quarry & Mining) and IGC Logistics Pvt Ltd., Nagpur (Road & Sea Logistics).
